Best tires for 24-inch Cybertruck wheels

The best tire for a 24-inch Cybertruck wheel is one that keeps the overall diameter close to the factory tire, carries at least the factory load, fits the rim width and suits how you drive. This guide covers the sizes that stay closest to stock and the checks that matter before you buy.

What is the factory Cybertruck tire, and how tall is it?

Every Cybertruck variant can run a 20-inch wheel on 285/65R20 all-season or LT285/65R20 all-terrain tires, per Tesla's owner's manual. Calculated from nominal dimensions, a 285/65R20 is 34.6 inches (879 mm) tall. That overall diameter is the reference every 24-inch size on this page is measured against.

Diameter matters because it sets three things at once: how far the tire reaches toward the fender liner, how accurately the speedometer reads, and where the truck sits. Keep it close to stock and all three stay close to how the truck left the factory.

Which 24-inch tire sizes stay within 2% of stock?

Four common 24-inch sizes qualify against the factory 34.6-inch tire, calculated from nominal dimensions: 295/45R24 (34.5 in, −0.4%), 305/45R24 (34.8 in, +0.6%), 315/45R24 (35.2 in, +1.6%), 35x12.50R24 (35.0 in and +1.2%). The 295/45R24 is the closest match and is shorter than stock; the other three are taller.

A taller tire makes the speedometer read low and a shorter one makes it read high, by the same percentage as the diameter change. Flotation sizes such as 35x12.50R24 use their stated diameter, and the real figure varies by brand and model, so check the maker's published diameter before you order. Width is the other half of the decision: every millimeter of section width over the factory 285 mm is shared between the fender liner and the suspension.

Which rim widths do these tires fit?

Each tire maker publishes an approved rim-width range for every size and model, and the ranges differ between brands. The standard 24-inch is 9.5 inches wide, so check that 9.5 inches sits inside the range on the maker's specification sheet for the exact tire you choose before ordering.

We do not publish a rim-width range for these sizes, because none of our sources gives one and the figure belongs to the tire model, not the size. A tire's section width also changes slightly with the rim it is mounted on, so the widths in the table above are nominal. If the tire you want lists 9.5 inches outside its range, tell us: the width of your set is confirmed in the build spec.

What load rating does a 24-inch tire need on a Cybertruck?

Tesla's owner's manual says replacement tires need a load rating equal to or higher than the factory tires, and the same load range. The highest rear axle rating in the manual, 5,247 lb, puts 2,624 lb on each rear wheel, so every tire on the truck must carry at least that.

A tire's load index is printed on its sidewall after the size. Compare it with the factory tire's rather than assuming a bigger tire carries more, and check the Tire and Loading Information label on the driver's door pillar. A tire with a higher load rating does not raise the axle limits on that label. The wheel is rated separately: each Xolaris wheel is rated to 3,600 lb.

Sources: Owner's manual: Wheel and Tire Specifications (load rating and load range) and Owner's manual: Dimensions, Weights, and Cargo Capacity (rear gross axle weight rating, Premium All-Wheel Drive and Cyberbeast on all-terrain tires). The Xolaris load rating is our published wheel specification.

Does the speed rating matter on 24-inch tires?

Yes. The speed rating is the letter after the load index on the sidewall, and it marks the speed the tire is built to sustain. We do not publish a figure for these sizes. Read the rating on your factory tires and choose a replacement rated at or above it, whatever the diameter.

Two tires of the same size can carry different speed ratings, so compare the letter as carefully as the size and the load index when you shortlist tires.

LT or P-metric: which construction suits a Cybertruck?

Tesla fits both. The all-season 285/65R20 is a passenger-style metric tire and the all-terrain LT285/65R20 is a light-truck tire. LT construction trades ride comfort and weight for stiffer sidewalls and a higher load range; metric tires ride more quietly. Match the load range rule above whichever you pick.

If you tow or carry heavy loads often, or drive off pavement, an LT tire's stiffer construction is the reason the truck offers one from the factory. If the truck spends its life on paved roads, a metric tire is usually quieter and lighter. On a 24-inch wheel the sidewall is shorter than on the factory 20-inch, so the construction you choose makes a bigger difference to how the truck rides.

Do the factory TPMS sensors carry over to new wheels?

Yes. Your tire shop moves the factory sensors from the stock wheels to the new set. Tesla's owner's manual says the sensors reset automatically once the truck is driven over 15 mph (25 km/h) for longer than 10 minutes after the wheels are replaced.

Until that reset, the manual says, false pressure warnings may appear. If the TPMS warning stays on after the reset drive, have the sensors checked before relying on them.

How does Xolaris confirm the tire size for a build?

Tell us the tire you plan to run when you request a build spec. We check its diameter and width against the wheel width and the offset we machine for your truck, and confirm the tire size with the build spec before anything is machined, so the wheel is made for that tire.

The Cybertruck wheel fitment guide covers offset, factory specs and load in depth, and the offset calculator compares any tire with the factory setup. The three designs, Monolith, Zenith and Umbra, share the same 24-inch specification.

24-inch tire FAQ

No. The factory 285/65R20 and LT285/65R20 tires fit a 20-inch wheel only. A 24-inch wheel needs a 24-inch tire, and the sizes above keep the overall diameter within 2% of stock (the factory 34.6 inches), calculated from nominal dimensions, so the speedometer and ride height stay close to stock.
